Privacy Policy
Last updated September 21, 2026
LandParse (“we,” “us”) operates landparse.com. This policy explains what we collect when you use the site, why we collect it, and the choices you have. The map is a preview product for Rhode Island parcel screening.
Information we collect
We collect the information you give us and a small amount of technical data needed to run the service:
- Account details. Name, email address, and a password. We store the password as a one-way hash, not in plain text.
- Account status. Whether a site administrator has approved, left pending, or rejected access to the map.
- Session cookie. An essential signed cookie so you stay signed in while you use the map.
- Security logs. IP address and recent sign-in attempts so we can limit password guessing.
- Messages you send us. If you email a site administrator, we keep what you send so we can reply.
We do not take payment card numbers. There is no billing on the site today. We do not use advertising cookies or sell personal information.
Map and property data
Parcel shapes, zoning, building footprints, lot measurements, and tax-card links come from public records and third-party sources. When you open a parcel, we may load public assessor fields (owner, mailing address, sale, book/page, market value, building count) from the city’s tax card so they appear in the details panel. Clicking the tax-card link still sends you to the assessor website, which has its own privacy practices.
Search terms you type on the map (address or parcel ID) stay in your browser so the map can find a lot. We do not use those searches to build a marketing profile.
How we use information
- Create your account and let a site administrator review it
- Sign you in and keep the map available to approved accounts
- Email you about approval status or important service notices
- Operate, secure, and fix the site
How we share information
We do not sell personal information. We share it only as needed to run LandParse: hosting and email providers that process data on our instructions, and disclosures required by law. Public parcel and tax data is not treated as your personal information.
Cookies
LandParse uses an essential session cookie to keep you signed in. If you block it, you will not stay logged in. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep account records while your account exists and for a short time afterward if we need them for security or to finish a request. You can ask a site administrator to close your account and delete personal account data that we no longer need.
Security
We use HTTPS, hashed passwords, and administrator review before the map unlocks. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Please use a unique password and keep it to yourself.
Children
LandParse is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
You can correct your name or email by contacting a site administrator. You can ask us to delete your account. You can stop using the site at any time. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
